Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is a therapy session like?
A: In therapy sessions, we can collaboratively explore your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and behaviors.

  • Individual therapy may focus on identifying patterns, developing coping strategies, and supporting personal growth.

  • Couples therapy emphasizes improving communication, managing conflict, enhancing intimacy, and fostering connection.
Each session can be tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Q2: What types of therapy do you offer?
A: I provide individual therapy and couples therapy in Ontario.

  • Individual therapy supports people experiencing challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and personal development. Techniques may include somatic therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy.

  • Couples therapy may assist partners in exploring communication, managing conflict, and strengthening their relationship. Approaches may include evidence-informed methods such as the Gottman Method.

Q3: How do I know if therapy is right for me?
A: Therapy may be helpful if you are experiencing personal, emotional, or relational challenges and would like support in exploring them. During the first session, we can explore your goals, discuss any questions you have, and review different approaches and options for therapy. This conversation helps clarify how therapy might support your personal growth and well-being.

Q4: How do I book a session?
A: Appointments can be scheduled by contacting me directly via phone or email. We can discuss session format (in-person or online), availability, and any questions you may have before starting.

Q5: What is somatic oriented psychotherapy?

Somatic therapy is a holistic approach to therapy that emphasizes the powerful connection between the mind and body. It recognizes that emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations are intertwined.

It integrates awareness of bodily sensations, breath, posture, and movement into the healing process.

Through gentle body awareness exercises, guided movement, grounding techniques, or mindful breathing, clients may begin to notice how their bodies respond to emotions and experiences. Over time, this awareness may foster better regulation, increases emotional resilience, and supports a greater sense of safety and embodiment.
