Supporting Couples Through
Connection and Growth

My approach is grounded in Attachment Theory and informed by research-based Gottman Couples Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I work with couples to explore relational patterns, enhance communication, and develop practical strategies that promote awareness and mutual understanding. Sessions are educational and reflective, providing a safe space to navigate challenges with curiosity and respect.

Explore the focus areas below:

Conflict Awareness & Skills

Disagreements are a natural part of relationships. Using evidence-informed techniques, couples can explore recurring patterns, identify triggers, and develop practical skills to navigate conflicts more mindfully. These sessions focus on awareness, reflection, and skill-building rather than providing prescriptive solutions.

Communication Practices

Communication involves more than words; it’s about understanding needs, listening actively, and fostering connection. Sessions provide opportunities to practice empathetic listening, clear expression, and relational understanding, supporting partners in building more constructive ways of engaging.

Emotional Awareness & Connection

Attachment patterns shape how we experience closeness and respond to one another emotionally. These sessions encourage couples to notice emotional patterns, enhance understanding of one another, and explore ways to strengthen connection in a safe environment.

Couples seek support for many reasons.

Some common themes include:

  • Communication challenges: difficulties expressing needs or feeling understood

  • Rebuilding relational trust: attending to breaches such as infidelity or ruptures in connection

  • Emotional and physical intimacy concerns: enhancing closeness and attunement

  • Life transitions: shifts such as becoming parents, career changes, or other major life events

  • Extended family dynamics: navigating boundaries and expectations with family members

My Approach

My work with couples is informed by:

  • Attachment‑Focused Perspectives
Attachment theory offers a framework for understanding how early experiences of connection shape emotional responses and relational patterns in adult partnerships. This perspective provides context for noticing needs, responses, and cycles that can recur between partners.

  • Gottman's Couples Therapy
Drawing on research‑informed methods, this approach includes learning specific communication skills, recognizing patterns that contribute to disconnection, and developing practical strategies for interaction that support respectful dialogue.

  • Solution‑Focused Therapy
Solution‑focused methods emphasize identifying strengths, clarifying goals, and building small, practical steps that can be applied outside of sessions. This work supports partners in noticing what works and developing skills that are meaningful to them.

I strive to create sessions that are

  • Collaborative: You and your partner can participate in shaping the focus of your time together

  • Reflective: We may attend to the patterns and interactions that influence connection

  • Skill‑Oriented: Tools and practices may be introduced to support communication and understanding

  • Creating space for sharing individual and shared Experiences: Both partners’ views and emotional responses may be explored

Couples Therapy can be a space to build awareness and relational skills that you can choose to integrate in ways that fit your partnership.

Couples therapy can be considered at many stages of a relationship: not only when there is distress, but also when couples want support navigating transitions, improving connection, or enhancing communication patterns. Deciding to engage in couples therapy can be a step toward gathering skills and understanding that may support you in navigating relational experiences.
